I agree with blaise. Dan has a passionate and abstarct way that he portrays his music onstage. He has great stage presence. Even on the nights he doesn't feel lke going all out, just his sometimes skiddish demeanor is intriguing and sexy. He feels every word to the core. You can tell by how it comes out. It pours out of him onstage. Now, I agree, not everyone will 'get' it. Some people can't just sit back and appreciate watching his vision unfold onstage. But really, that's what his set is for...a chance for him, as an artist, to not just play the songs, but to give the audience a visual portrayal as well to create a memorable emotional show experience for the fans. Dan is doing a great job of testing the boundaries of what a typical show should be and that is what sets them apart from so many other bands out there.

Uh... I think the bleeding is more of a physical interpretation of an emotional feeling or state. I wouldn't take it too literally, you know? There are many interpretations & opinions to be had of Augustana's music, (and anyone else's for that matter) and I think that Augustana is a band that wants fans to develop their own meanings & feelings from their songs in order to make them more personal to the individual. However, I don't think Dan Layus was trying to say, "Worship Lucifer the Prince of Darkness while I sing a lovely tune," with Sweet & Low's video. But if he was, then I guess to each his own, right? But just because that could, (but very unlikely), be his interpretation of the song, doesn't mean that it has to be yours. Let it inspire you in you're own way. Music is not a means of shoving thoughts or opinions of one person down your throat, it's a means of causing thoughts & opinions within yourself.
