Song Meaning?
I love Sweet and Low...
What does it mean though?
I know that there are a variety of ways it could be interpreted.
But I would like to know the reason it was writen.
The feelings that produced this beautiful song.
Is it a love song?
About a mother?
About a daughter?
Help me out please?

Song lyrics are meaningful, and powerful. There are many interpretations for this form of poetry, me telling ou what I felt would be just as useful as listening to a lecture in a language you don't understand, for these meanings are within you, and you alone for what subject we are in now. You would have to as the lyricist why he/she wrote it, simple things give us great inspiration, perhaps a bottle of water, or maybe a packet of Sweet 'n' Low.
Again, it would be inhumane for me to present you my interpretation of this work as correct, or as you should see it, or even present it at all, again, this is inside of you, just dig a bit deeper, so sweet and low.
From what I read it is about his daughter. It says he had to leave his daughter frequently so he made this song for her. I know some verses may seem like it is for a girlfriend or wife but according to his biography on many sites he wrote it for his daughter.

Note: I at first thought it meant he was in love with a little girl because of some of the words may lead to that thought. However, I guess you have to look more into the meaning that it is fatherly love and that is all.
